Hi I’m Dashell’s dad, and in honor of Mother’s Day I asked the usual writer of this blog if I could do a guest entry. She graciously agreed so here goes:
When Gwynn first told me she wanted to be a mom (almost four years ago now) I have to admit I was skeptical. The thing that you might not pick up on from reading this blog is that she has a rather “A type” personality. What that means in every day life is that she is an extremely driven, exceptionally hard working, “failure is not an option” kind of gal. She budgets, schedules, and runs commercial productions, often several at the same time. I have known her for many years to be a straight talking, no nonsense, producer who never shys away from a tough conversation when someone is not living up to their end of an agreement, as well as someone who always delivers on time and under budget. These are incredible qualities to have if you are running a business, or are an officer in the military, but I wasn’t sure how they would translate to motherhood.
I was expecting a mother who would be frustrated and impatient with a baby's unpredictable schedule and it's moods swings, but adding Dashell to our lives has completely unlocked a softer more playful side of my wife. She is an amazing mother! She was instantly transformed into one of the most loving and nurturing people I have ever seen. Suddenly this hard-nosed, bad ass has an endless supply of love, comfort, and patience for this little person. The time they spend together is filled with laugher, games, reading, and learning. And witnessing all of this has been one of the happiest surprises of my life!

Wow what a great post Dave! You and Dashell are very lucky to have such a wonderful woman in your lives.
Sorry had to delete the first comment I didn't realize Garo was logged in so it posted under his name (although I'm sure he would agree with me!)
hahaha..I don't think we know the person before Dashell..we only know the loving mom and thought she is always so loving. :-P What a post, so sweet :-)
AW Dave, this is such a sweet post!! We of course know Gwynn as the amazing mother she is, fun to hear about the other side. So glad she doesn't bring her business skills to mothering!
Such a sweet post, Dave. How good of you to write it & to include the darling video! Wow, Dashell, can put 3 words together now! Very impressively verbal! Thank you so much. It has been a long "dry" time without a blog post. Love, GMA
So sweet! What a lovely Mothers' Day tribute. Am thinking I will have to meet this interesting person in real life someday!
I sent a comment last Sunday, but obiously a cyber-thief snatched it. The blog was a glowing tribute --I totally agree. The video is pricelss; I have watched it over and over. Thanks for keeping us up to date. Nana
