The Letter Of The Week Is... P! (x2)

A few months ago when I found out that Diana and Alex had purchased potties for their little girls, I felt so out of it. I hadn't even considered it yet. (And probably with good reason, since boys are usually very late to potty train.) But trying to be diligent in my mothering duties I eventually ran out to the store and picked one up. (One can never have too many extra things in the house to collect dust, right?!)

I purchased a lovely 3-in-1 deluxe model (they only had two types of potties to choose from and the other looked like it would fall apart quickly), with it's own toilet paper holder and wipes container. (What will they think of next?!) Dash had a wonderful time, for a few days, disassembling it and putting it back together like a big puzzle before he became bored and forgot about it.

Then two weeks ago, right after I put him in the bath, I notice a little leak in his nether region and asked if he needed to pee in his potty, to which he replied,"Yes!" I promptly whisked him out of tub and place him on his throne. He peed like a champ. I cheered. He dumped and flushed. And much joy was shared by all! Then a couple nights later we had a repeat performance, followed by a joyous round of high-fives.

Then last week, while Dave was getting him ready for the bath Dash stated,"Dada... pee pee... potty." And low and behold, he did it again. And again. And again! Which brings us to tonight, where once again as I was getting him ready for his bath and taking off his diaper, he asked to use the potty. So off to the bathroom we trotted.

Six times in two weeks! I'm a little dumbfounded. I didn't think that this was supposed to happen for boys until 2 1/2 or 3. It's neat for now, but I'm not holding my breath that it will continue. We'll just have to wait and see. (Or maybe just... wait for pee! Right?!)

Oh I loved this accounting of events. I just bought ours today! Lauren has been telling us she is going pee or poo for a few months now and I like you thought it was too early. I think I am over that thought and going to try!

I think my daughter had a kind of normal start and stop potty training experience as far as daytime went. She was sleeping in a pull up for a while and I thought I would wait until she tended to be dry in the morning before we tackled nighttime training.

Then we went to visit Grandpa George and I realized at 10:00 pm that I had forgotten the pull-ups. My daughter (then about 3) said "It's okay, I don't need it. i won't pee." I said I'd go out and find diapers, she didn't need to try to get up at night to go pee, that it wasn't her fault if she peed while she was asleep, etc. etc.

She just said "I never pee while I'm sleeping, I just pee in the pull-up in the morning because it's too cold to get out of bed."

Yep. She never wore a pull-up again and never ever wet the bed. I probably could have gone another year without figuring that one out!

Wow, overachiever in so many ways! Well, they say that when the child is ready, they'll tell you. Dash's "notifications" seem to be a good sign!

So fantastic, leave it to that little smartie to do everything ahead of the curve!

Oh how fortunate you are to have a little boy that actually wants to use the potty. Our dear Magnus couldn't be less interested and he's almost 2.5 years now! Hmph. I know in time it will happen but still...

Congrats Dashy!

Wow! Jeremiah was 3 when he potty trained. Audrey has started potty training also, but I am so inconsistent with having her sit on the potty, I really need to get my act together!

Congrats!!!
